Overview

Zen has an ambitious growth objective for its newly formed Business Division.

The post holder is a member of the Zen Business management team. They are responsible for managing the Telesales team and Desk Based Account Management Team (DBAM), ensuring that the teams provide a first-class service to increase sales conversion, customer retention rates and drive growth from upsell and cross-sell activity.

The post holder has the responsibility for the motivation, coaching and development of the team through the co-ordination and management of day-to-day activities. The key objective of the Sales Manager is to grow new sales for the business by driving channel development, examining growth opportunities, enabling sales improvements, product mix development, and taking responsibility for the department’s performance against targets.

The Sales Manager also works closely with the following departments: Customer Experience, Finance, Marketing, Portfolio and other sales teams for the purpose of ensuring a first-class delivery experience.

The post holder will be expected to be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and resilient with excellent coaching skills and proven sales experience. They will be committed to striving to overachieve targets while maintaining a focus on the customer experience.

Key Responsibilities


  • Day to day management of the Telesales and DBAM teams, to manage pipeline and grow revenue through up and cross selling and meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Meeting or exceeding other financial and non-financial KPI’s
  • Create and execute plans and initiatives to increase sales
  • Driving sales performance using appropriate incentives
  • Co-ordinating inbound and outbound sales activities
  • Supporting the implementation of Business marketing plans and activities
  • Liaise closely with the wider team and contribute to wider goals of the sales team
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the divisional product set, services and strategy
  • Ensure the team have the right knowledge and skills to be successful in their role
  • Conduct regular reviews to assess and improve performance
  • Provide support and resolution to escalated issues from the teams
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports on team and individual performance
  • Recognise opportunities for improvements to procedures and practices by proactively offering ideas and solutions
  • Build and maintain industry and competitor knowledge
  • Provide input into sales strategy as part of the divisional management team
  • Gather feedback from customers on the service provided by the team and take corrective action as required.
  • Other reasonable duties and projects as defined by the line manager


Skills & experience


  • Proven experience in a sales role
  • Previous coaching / (acting) line management experience in a sales team within a technology environment
  • Experience coaching and developing staff in product knowledge and sales techniques
  • Able to demonstrate a natural aptitude for dealing with people (e.g. coaching or supporting colleagues, giving feedback and people management skills)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Excellent time management, able to prioritise own workload & delegate effectively
  • Ability to work on own initiative and identify opportunities for growth and improvement in your own team
  • Confident, assertive and professional in all internal and external dealings
  • Able to quickly learn and understand new products
  • Able to analyse customer needs and recommend solutions which meet those needs
  • Demonstration of interest in internet technologies
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work to and meet targets and tight deadlines
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
