KWE is currently looking for a Senior Customs Specialist who is focused on delivering a world class customer service experience to our valued customers. REQUIREMENTS
- Formal Academic Training in related field or equivalent; five to 10 years direct Customs brokerage experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- CSCB Canadian Society of Customs Brokers CCS Certified Customs Specialist and/or CBSA Canada Border Services Professional status required unless exception made by Management.
- Ability to create, read and/or comprehend instructions and detailed correspondence to include understanding CBSA and OGA Other Government Agency policies.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and/or small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
DETAILS OF THE JOB
- Provide related customs service to clients and carriers, including tracing/tracking shipments, verifying charges, issuing cheque requests.
- Responsible for imaging/scanning files through the DM Document Management tool and moving files to appropriate folder.
- Process shipments using SWI Single Window Initiative with all applicable PGA’s – Government Agencies while using existing client HS Harmonized System code database.
- Ensure that all miscellaneous charges are protected on entry for client billing to include but not limited to terminal fee, storage, dock delivery etc.
- Understand how to perform a credit release request during regular hours and afterhours.
- Ensure all paperwork has the information to process for customs clearance and if require reach out to clients/carriers/vendors for any missing info.
- Ensure clients and carriers are updated with any processing delays.
- Responsible for making sure all correspondence to include client email communication is imaged using SSD Solid State Drive technology to the entry file.
- Classify HS Harmonized System codes to client commodities when required and ensure final billing to client is correct and includes payables if required.
- Provide a first place of contact for client inquiries, concerns and complaints and take the appropriate action to rectify errors or omissions.
- Provide related customs service to clients to include but not limited to tracing shipments, scheduling delivery, classifying merchandise, verifying charges are added to file before automated billing, issuing cheque requests, preparing delivery orders and completing B3’s in a timely manner.
- Analyzing and reviewing all entries of the release agents.
- Utilizing the DM, moving files and following up on any delayed/held shipments. Processing entries when required.
- Keep notes current and other employees informed of any changes.
- Keep informed of regulatory changes and make sure they are aware and understand any new CBSA, PGA regulations.
