The DoubleTree by Hilton-Newark is immediately interviewing for an enthusiastic individual for to join the sales team!
Basic Function
Increase local catering and meeting bookings in an effort to maximize meeting facility usage and reach budgeted revenue. Coordinate food and equipment service of the functions.
Report to: Director of Sales
Specific Duties Primary Responsibilities
1. Meet or Exceed Goals set up by the General Manager
2. Must be knowledgeable of facilities, capacities, menus and menu costing to make professional sales calls.
3. Attend and participate in weekly sales meetings, training seminars and other meetings as requested by the General Manager.
4. Establish Marketing Plan with the sales team. Perform sales tasks and goals as outlined in the Marketing Plan.
5. Qualify leads and prospects gained from cold calls, sales blitzes and telemarketing.
6. Survey existing catering accounts and select potential leads.
7. Establish and maintain close contact with top accounts and target accounts through phone calls, tours, appointments, correspondence and entertainment. Assess their current and future needs. Network with prospects to uncover other decision makers.
8. Maintain accurate sales files and trace system of top and target accounts.
9. Develop banquet menus with the Director of Catering and Chef.
10. Take part in sales initiatives here on property.
11. Administrative Responsibilities, i.e. Filing, typing of contracts, sales correspondence and reports.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain rapport with competing hotels, local Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, lead sources and clients. Participate in community activities, employee functions and guest events.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be required.
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other hotel employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conductive to maximize employee moral, productivity and efficiency.
- At all times project a favorable image of the hotel to promote its aims and objectives and enhance public recognition of all of its areas of endeavor.
- Responsible for being knowledgeable of the hotel emergency procedures.
