Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-oriented Sales Assistant to join our dynamic team at our department store. As a Sales Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional service to our customers and assisting them in finding the perfect products to meet their needs. Your friendly and approachable demeanour, combined with your excellent communication and sales skills, will contribute to the overall success of our department store. Key Responsibilities: Customer Service: Greet customers with a warm and friendly attitude, actively listen to their needs, and provide product recommendations and assistance. Ensure customers feel valued and satisfied with their shopping experience. Product Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of the products available in the store, including their features, benefits, and usage. Stay updated on new arrivals, promotions, and sales to provide accurate information to customers. Sales Generation: Actively engage with customers to promote sales, cross-sell and upsell products. Utilise effective sales techniques to maximise revenue and meet individual and store sales targets. Merchandising: Assist in the maintenance and organization of merchandise displays, ensuring products are properly labelled, stocked, and presented attractively. Regularly replenish stock to maintain a visually appealing and fully stocked sales floor. Cash Handling: Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system. Handle cash, credit cards, and other forms of payment securely and in accordance with company policies. Store Operations: Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the store, including fitting rooms, restrooms, and customer areas. Follow all operational procedures, including opening and closing duties, stock counts, and inventory management. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow sales assistants and other store staff to ensure smooth operations and a positive work environment. Share product knowledge and assist colleagues when needed. Customer Feedback: Collect and relay customer feedback and suggestions to the Department Manager to enhance the shopping experience and address any concerns or issues promptly. Qualifications and Skills: Proven experience in a customer service or sales role, preferably in a retail environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong customer focus with the ability to create a positive and welcoming atmosphere. Basic knowledge of sales techniques and strategies. Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
