Tarff Valley Ltd, otherwise known as Tarff, is Scotland’s oldest Agricultural Co-operative, established in 1903 and now has in excess of 1300 members. Tarff is an Agricultural Merchant supplying the rural community in Southern Scotland, Northern England, Ayrshire and most recently, Islay, with a wide range of quality products and services. With innovation and creating competitive advantage for our farming customers remaining at the heart of what we strive to achieve, the company has grown significantly since the early days and has a turnover in the region of £70 million and employs over 120 employees. Tarff positions itself as a ‘one stop shop’ and sells a full range of agricultural products including animal feed, fertiliser, seeds, anthelmintics, animal health products, hardware, clothing and footwear. Tarff’s flagship country stores in Dumfries and Castle Kennedy sell a wider range of products including local foodstuffs, gifts, toys, clothing and footwear.
We are looking for a part-time Sales Assistant for our Town and Country branch in Castle Kennedy. The applicant should help customers identify and purchase products they desire. Sales Assistant duties include selling, restocking and merchandising.
Responsibilities
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service.
- Assisting customers with their purchases.
- Maintaining stock levels proactively.
- Ensuring a clean safe shopping environment.
- Answering telephone calls and taking sales orders.
- Processing orders through our sales system.
Requirements
The successful applicant should have previous work experience in retail sales and preferably an agricultural background. It is essential that the candidate can work in a team and individually. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Having a basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices are key and being able to deliver excellent customer service should be the main focus of the candidate. This role is suited to someone who is friendly, helpful, confident and has an engaging personality. Good knowledge of IT is necessary. Knowledge of local area is essential for organising deliveries. AMTRA qualification is an advantage but full training will be given.
Part time position. 32 hours per week. Weekend work on rota.
