IT Summer Placement
Duration: 12 weeks commencing June 2023
Location: Glasgow, Reading, Havant
Salary: Circa £20,100 per annum pro rata

Our Group Data Management summer placements provide real hands-on experience through a 12-week placement in our Group Data and Analytics Centre for Enablement. Throughout the placement, you will have the support of a Data Management mentor and manager, who will provide guidance and support to enable you to reach your full potential.
The aim of the Group Data and Analytics Centre for Enablement is to help businesses across SSE to have accessible and trusted data that enables innovative analytics to power business growth and profitability, whilst operating in a safe and controlled manner that meets all regulatory, legal and ethical requirements.
Working as part of our multi-disciplined Data Management team, you will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in both the Metadata and Data Quality fields. You will work within our Metadata team to support data stewards across SSE to adopt best practice in effectively managing data through the creation of metadata. You will also work with our Data Quality team to help deliver the Data Quality Framework that increases the value of SSE’s data assets.
What do I need?
We have opportunities for those studying any degree discipline. Our opportunities are open to students who are in their 2ND, 3RD or 4th year of their degree onwards or those who have already graduated.
We'd love you to have some practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for the energy sector, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges and should have a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long-term future with us.
