Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Construction Safety Manager to join our team!
What You'll Be Doing:
The position is accountable for the administration, monitoring, and coordination of the Project Safety Plan (PSP) for the Tunnel Vent Shaft Rehabilitation Program. The position requires an effective team leader who can mentor project team members and foster a working environment where project staff can work together to deliver the project safely. The Safety Manager will assist in the planning, development, and controlling of major safety aspects of the Tunnel Vent Shaft Rehabilitation Program and provide oversight over the D/B’s safety programs. The position is responsible for development of project-related safety concepts and recommending hazard mitigations to the project teams, investigation of incidents, completion of project safety reports, and other tasks as assigned by the project management office. The position requires working days, nights, weekends, and holidays with extended hours to achieve project completion. The duties for this role require the individual to work in-person, in the field and from the office (not remotely), with minimum of two site visit per week.
- Review and monitor the D/B’s Project Safety Plan (PSP);
- Become familiar with the construction safety and security requirements of the program;
- Perform site safety and security reviews, including but not limited to construction equipment, personnel, work procedures, traffic control, etc.;
- Establish key performance safety indices for all aspects of the Tunnel Vent Shaft Rehabilitation Program
- Maintain and monitor the performance of the project against the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) established for the PSP and provide weekly reports to project management office;
- Work constructively with project team members to resolve project safety-related issues in the field. Provide safety recommendations to key staff members;
- Provide counseling and intervention to correct observed hazardous, at-risk, or non-complaint work activities in the field;
- Review identified uncontrolled hazards or security vulnerabilities with D/B supervision and establish an agreement regarding future compliant controls for identified hazards;
- Conduct project safety meetings in the field with each discipline involved as needed to ensure effective project control;
- Report construction incidents immediately upon notification;
- Respond to construction incident scene(s), and assist with major incident investigations;
- Complete a weekly safety report, summarizing key safety performance indices, safety and security reviews, project safety issues, safety meetings, incidents, investigations, and observed hazardous, at-risk, or non-compliant work activities;
- Conduct monthly safety meetings with field staff and inspectors with agendas and sign-in sheets;
- Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) in the field and inform staff of current status, revisions, or comments before the commencement of the work;
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, or related field and/or a minimum of 10 years demonstrable experience in construction safety;
- Demonstrated Safety Engineering and/or Safety Assurance experience on rail transit projects, specifically on bridge and tunnel systems;
- Demonstrated experience with the application 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 1926;
- OSHA 30 Construction (In-Class) certified;
- Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and OSHA Confined Space;
- Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation preferred;
- Must be able to work nights and weekends including holidays;
- Must be able to pass a Government background check;
- Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. and climb steep surface grades; and
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
