Leyland SDM specialises in paint, tools, plumbing, electrical, woodwork & DIY materials. We have 33 high street stores across London, supported by our central support team and distribution centre in Wembley. We are currently on an exciting journey and have some very ambitious growth plans.
We are looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to collaborate with our CEO, HR Director, and the Health & Safety Director of our parent company, Grafton Group. You will be in charge of developing and implementing health and safety legislative requirements, best practices and fostering ongoing improvement initiatives throughout the business.
You’ll have some key responsibilities including:
- Develop and implement health and safety best practices and continuous improvement initiatives for the business.
- Ensure routine health and safety activities are consistently carried out to a high standard
- Prepare regular reports on compliance, initiatives, and key health and safety activities for leadership.
- Investigate incidents, identify causes, and recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate and deliver health, safety & wellbeing training for managers and colleagues across the business.
What skills and experience you will need?
- NEBOSH General Certificate qualification or equivalent
- Technical Member of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech IOSH), working towards Graduate Member status
- Good understanding of health and safety management and experience implementing initiatives across multiple sites.
- Strong communication and problem solving skills
- Can prioritize and manage workload effectively to meet deadlines.
