Adept are working with well-established manufacturing company based in Rotherham; they are seeking a dedicated and motivated Health and Safety Advisor to join their team. In this role, you will play a vital role in providing innovative and customer-focused health, safety, and environment support across our departments, projects, and activities. Your main responsibility will be to ensure the implementation of best practices and foster a culture of safety throughout the organization.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure proper implementation of policies and procedures.
- Monitor contractors on-site, including weekends, and inspect for compliance with PPE and safety protocols.
- Immediately escalate any concerns to the Health and Safety Manager and Departmental Manager.
- Maintain thorough records of inspection findings and prepare reports with suggested improvements.
- Deliver comprehensive induction training to new starters and contractors, as well as additional training to existing colleagues.
- Assist managers in conducting risk assessments and provide advice on risk reduction strategies.
- Ensure availability of safety data sheets and COSHH assessments for hazardous substances on-site.
- Develop and communicate safe operational procedures, taking into account all relevant hazards.
- Ensure adherence to safety legislation and promote safe working practices.
- Contribute to the preparation of health and safety strategies.
- Conduct in-house training sessions with managers and employees on relevant health and safety topics.
- Assist in the investigation of incidents and accidents, ensuring accurate reporting.
- Stay up-to-date with new legislation and maintain a strong understanding of Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations and industry developments.
- Deliver informative tool box talks to enhance safety awareness.
- Assist in the safe installation of equipment.
- Manage and organize the safe disposal of hazardous substances, such as asbestos.
- Provide expert advice on various specialist areas, including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, machinery safeguarding, and occupational diseases.
- Support the development and delivery of health and safety communications.
- Perform any other reasonable duties within your skill set as requested.
**Knowledge/Skills:**
- Minimum of two years of experience working in Health and Safety.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable.
- Experience in a 24/7 shift operation would be advantageous.
**Qualifications/Training:**
- NEBOSH General Certificate or actively working towards achieving this qualification.
- Essential understanding of COSHH, with in-depth knowledge considered an advantage.

Salary: £35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
