What you’ll do

Reporting to the Vehicle Safety Attribute Manager, you will support the verification and validation of vehicle safety targets across complete vehicle programmes.

In this role, you will work closely with other members of the Safety team, Safety component/system owners and Function Group teams to ensure that the vehicle design and its safety features will enable the programme safety targets to be met.

You’ll review CAE and physical test findings with other members of the Safety team and design teams, providing observations and recommendations. Also you will perform safety test data analysis to support safety attribute performance development, and generate sign-off reports. As well as supporting problem solving and issue resolution.

You’ll coordinate and guide a wide range of safety tests (eg crash, sled, rollover, pedestrian and sensor testing). You’ll determine required test parameters and requirements from relevant stakeholders, generate test plans and ensure that these are communicated accurately to the test houses. You’ll ensure that pre-test preparations reflect test objectives and support all stakeholder requirements. You’ll coordinate parts availability, rework and part updates prior to test as required.

As a member of a small team, you’ll also be required to support other safety-related activities and will be comfortable with embracing new challenges.

Who you are

  • You will preferably have a bachelors degree or equivalent automotive experience working in a safety engineering and/ or safety test area.
  • You’ll have experience of specifying, coordinating and delivering safety test activity (via external test houses).
  • You’ll have good awareness of global and consumer safety test and assessment protocols
  • You will have expertise in the use of safety test data analysis software packages. You’ll also be familiar with CAE tools and techniques and be able to interpret and critique results.
  • Knowledge and skills across multiple vehicle safety areas would be advantageous.
  • As a collaborative team player, you’ll have effective communication skills and be comfortable interfacing with various stakeholders.
