Salary Range £24,501 - £26,850
Successful candidates for this post will work in conjunction with Leicestershire County Council and other stakeholders to plan, implement, deliver and evaluate a number of active travel campaigns as part of the Whole Schools Approach to Physical Activity and Sport, which is aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people in Leicestershire.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to work within identified County schools and within the County Sport Partnership and School Sport & Physical Activity Partnerships, in a practical way to encourage, support and influence active travel initiatives and programmes.
The successful candidate will engage with a wide range of people including school staff and sport & physical activity leads at a strategic level and will need to be persuasive and resilient with excellent communications skills. Although nominally based at County Hall, it is anticipated that the majority of the role will involve working from home, necessary equipment will be provided, or liaising with schools involved in the programme, applicants must be prepared to travel within the county of Leicestershire.
Leicestershire County Council encourages and supports all staff to travel actively and sustainably but there may be occasions when travel by car is essential. Successful candidates must be in possession of a full driving licence and have access to a car insured for business use.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent relevant qualification
OR
- Demonstrable work experience in a public focused business
- Partnership working, including with schools, business, communities and external organisations
- Problem solving and analysing information
- Ability to manage a varied workload working to tight timescales and agreed targets and to supervise the work of others
- Good knowledge and understanding of safe and sustainable travel initiatives
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Building positive relationships across stakeholders, peers and partners, creating open and transparent relationships based on trust.
- Excellent IT skills, including a knowledge and understanding of Microsoft office programmes and use of bespoke databases and map-based programmes
- Political awareness
- A customer focussed approach where the customer experience is central to the delivery of the service
- An understanding of, and commitment to Equal Opportunities, and the ability to apply this to all situations.
- Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010
