Job description

Why LNER?

Our vision is to be the most loved, progressive and responsible way to travel for generations to come, and we're looking for the people who can deliver this, every day.

Since we took over the East Coast route, we've been changing the face of travel. Our new fleet of Azuma trains are delivering faster journey times, more space, comfort and greater reliability. Our exciting plans to embrace new ideas, experiences, backgrounds and ambitions make this the ideal time to join. We were the first and are currently the only franchised rail operator to achieve customer numbers back to pre-pandemic levels and we are leading the charge to transform rail through digital and customer focussed innovation.

Bringing passion. Being bold. Always caring. Owning it. They're the values that make us LNER.

Are you on board?

What you'll be doing.

As one of LNERs Customer Experience Roster Clerks you will be taking the lead to ensure our trains and stations are staffed to the required levels to enable the teams to deliver LNERs legendary customer experience. Day to day this will involve the management of weekly and daily rosters ensuring colleagues are rostered in line with clearly defined rostering and safety principles, the compilation of timesheets and the management of the team's annual leave throughout the year balancing the requests for leave against the operational needs of the business. You will also need to manage our rest day equalization process which ensures the allocation of overtime is shared fairly across all grades. It doesn't stop there! We have a number of other processes to manage along with general rostering administration, so having an organized approach will be really beneficial.

Working in the rostering team you could be working on any number of grades, from Train managers, through to the on train teams and the station teams, so there's lots of variety and you will get to meet lots of people so building relationships is an essential part of the role.

What you'll need:

  • To be an effective team player, with the ability to form constructive and proactive working relationships.
  • Have a good level of Numeracy and analytical skills.
  • The ability to work to policies and procedures

  • Effective communication Skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Highly organized with good time management skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Have a flexible approach to work
  • Be a team Player willing to work with others and have a collaborative approach

What you'll get:

  • Free travel on LNER + 75% off other companies' tickets (for you & dependents)
  • Discounted international train tickets (after one year's service)
  • 50% discount on LNER tickets for friends & family
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Annual cycle to work schemes
  • Discount, savings and cashback scheme from top retailers
