The North West Trunk Road Unit spans some 1,422km of trunk road through some of the most scenic parts of the country. It also includes 1,501 bridges and structures, including the Kessock Bridge which carries the A9 north of Inverness and the A87 Skye Crossing.
The North West Unit covers a huge area of Scotland, from Thurso and Wick in the very north of the Highlands down to Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute, from Uig on Skye to Perth and Stirling in the central belt.
The Roadworker will assist with a wide variety of general road maintenance tasks such as carriageway patching, traffic sign erection, drainage works, footway improvements, traffic management and cyclic duties such as grip cleaning, sign washing and gully cleaning. You’d also be expected to be part of our 24hr Incident response standby rota to attend various incidents that occur on the trunk road from RTC’s to flooding. Candidates with an HGV license will join our winter maintenance rota during the winter months driving our state-of-the-art snow ploughs, when conditions dictate.
Role includes:
- The ideal candidate should be an experienced roadworker or construction worker. However full training will be provided.
- A driving license is essential and should preferably include an HGV entitlement, but HGV training will be provided to the right candidate.
- Flexibility, punctuality and reliability are essential for this role as well as a hard working and enthusiastic attitude.
