Job description
Working with internal colleagues and people from our external partnerships, as an ambassador for the Better Rivers Better North West (BRBNW) Programme. Working mostly outdoors responding to incidents within a reactive environment, as well as proactively undertaking inspections identifying and resolving problems independently - escalating and reporting issues to the team leader as appropriate.
Job Accountabilities
Following storm spill events will be responsible for clearing, or organising the clearing of sewage litter and debris from the storm outfalls- Provide prompt response to both operational and catchment events and emergencies when required
- Inspect and report any issues, clearly defining remedial works required to existing United Utilities assets
- Carry out physically demanding tasks in a fast changing outdoor environment with exposure to and in close proximity to environmental hazards and sewerage contamination.
- Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and to comply with regulations and internal company policy.
- Organise day to day activities with Team Leader ensuring effective utilisation of time.
- Liaise /communicate with internal and external parties to support, deliver or report upon events and activities which contribute to enhancing the company's overall reputation
- Represent United Utilities at meetings with NGO's, local community groups etc. ensuring that the Company's interests are protected and the Company's reputation is enhanced.
- Any other duties deemed appropriate to fulfil the role
Knowledge and Skills
Have knowledge and experience of working in the environment, along with enthusiasm for working in the outdoors- Ability to perform both within a team and on own initiative
- Full UK driving license
- Able to form and develop relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Ability to risk assess dynamically
- Ability to recognise and highlight issues to Team Leader as appropriate
- Experience of working on open water
- Knowledge and experience of Wastewater networks
