Risk and Assurance Officer
Summary of role
P-UK’s Risk and Assurance team will work as part of the Clinical Quality and Governance Department ensuring all divisions develop and implement local risk management practices, compliant with Care Quality Commissioner (CQC) regulations and the organisation’s Risk Management Policy.
The post holder will play a key role supporting the Risk and Assurance Manager developing and maintaining the organisation’s risk register and rolling out operational risk processes. You will be responsible for facilitating and supporting a range of business areas including clinical and non-clinical areas. You will predominately work with the Clinical Quality and Governance department and their leadership teams, as well as clinical and non-clinical leadership teams throughout the organisation.
The Risk and Assurance Officer will support the Risk and Assurance Manager to implement and maintain the risk management software system, becoming a super user and assisting other departmental leads to use the system.
Duties/responsibilities
The post holder will have a variety of responsibilities, including the following. This list is not exhaustive, and the post holder could be asked to perform a wider variety of duties to ensure performance management across the team.
As a Risk and Assurance Officer at Psychiatry-UK your responsibilities will include:
- Support the Risk and Assurance team with key tasks relating to risk management.
- Participate in the implementation and maintenance of the risk management software system, becoming a super-user and assisting others in the use of the system.
- Liaise with department leads and risk register owners to regularly review and update risks in the system, including risk discovery and emerging risks.
- Exercise judgement and escalate appropriately.
- When needed, assist with coordinating risk responses and mitigation plans.
- Participate in the design and production of risk reports at various levels.
- Create relationships across the organisation to develop a culture of collaborative working regarding risk management.
Qualifications/skills

You will also need to have:
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- A ‘Level in English, or relevant experience in appropriate field.
- 1+ years of experience in adopting, maintaining and reviewing internal controls for compliance and risk management programmes.
- Familiarity with compliance principles and CQC regulations.
- Experience of risk management techniques and frameworks.
- Demonstrable experience of managing regulatory processes.
- High level of skill in using Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience of managing in crisis, making decisions under pressure and being self-reliant.
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical and non-clinical risk management.
- Reliable and fast internet connection essential
Desired
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in the appropriate field such as business administration or healthcare administration.

- Understands concepts and the importance of developing a performance management culture, including KPI’s, performance and risk management frameworks with a proven track record of delivering results.

- Time management skills, including ability to manage changing priorities.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills
- Use of statistical analysis software.
- Demonstrate understanding of current regulatory and commissioning environment within a healthcare setting.
- In depth knowledge of managing compliance with CQC fundamental standards and Quality and Safety.
- Experience working with managers and teams to deliver training and support.
