Job Advert Description
Review Officer
Applications are invited for a Part-time (60%) review officer to work within the South Wales Police Review Unit based within the Crime and Criminal Justice HQ in the Kingsway in Bridgend.
The role will involve successful applicants assisting in the reviews of undetected homicides/undetected rapes and serious sexual offences.
The main duties of the post holder will consist of conducting ‘Acute’ & ‘Rapid’ reviews of serious crimes and ‘near-misses’ to support Organisational Investigative development and improvement in respect of investigating crime. Assist in the completion of statutory reviews including, Domestic Homicide Reviews, Child Practice Reviews, Adult Practice Reviews and Offensive Weapon Homicide Reviews.
The Review Unit is also responsible for Cold Case Murder reviews/ Unresolved Reviews, Thematic Reviews, Detected Reviews and Post-Trial Reviews, with the aims being to ensure investigations conform to nationally approved standards, conducted with integrity and objectivity where all investigative opportunities are identified to ensure good practice is identified and opportunities for organisational learning are highlighted.
Applicants must be flexible and willing to work long hours as required at short notice.

IT skills are required to update and use the databases utilised by SWP to record and manage information in relation to the reviews and associated tasks.

The successful candidate must be prepared to undergo vetting to MV/SC level
The role is not suitable for job share due to financial implications in successful applicants undergoing External training at a substantial cost to the force. Furthermore, due to the requirement for in depth knowledge of each review conducted, particularly Statutory Reviews, such work cannot be shared between two individuals.
