Customer Assistant @ The Smiddy

Blair Drummond Smiddy is a family run farm shop based in Blair Drummond, near Stirling. The business opened in October 2016. Our award-winning retail format revolves around fresh, local food offered from our in-house cafe, butcher, deli and grocery. The food offering is complemented by our fabulous gift shop. We are currently continuing to grow, and we are looking for experienced, customer focused staff who can deliver a first class customer experience to join our growing shop team.
It is our mission to be the destination of choice for fresh and local food for our community, and for visitors from further afield. We constantly seek to supply better products, in order to improve our customers' experience. Food miles, simplified food chains and sustainability are high on our agenda. We have a strong set of values, and a customer centric approach to guide our commitment to continuous improvement.
The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for new colleague to join our expanding business, working across our shop and online departments. As part of the team, the customer assistant will support all elements of the Smiddy food and gift shop. Key skills would include customer focus, restocking and presenting items, and food safety & compliance. Using your initiative, and working hard are key! You will ensure the shop is beautifully presented, safe and legal.
The Candidate:
We are looking for an ambitious, positive, self-starters who work well as part of a team:
- Work with pace and display excellent judgement in customer situations
- A positive, proactive, welcoming attitude is essential
- Will look to maximise the profit and sales generated by ensuring that every opportunity is taken to increase sales and average customer spend
- Proactively selling to customers in a natural and friendly manner
- Previous food retail experience is desirable
- Complete day to day retail operations with confidence
- Confident to work on own and as part of a team
- Happy to provide two way feedback between your role and shop management to create an open and upfront environment
- To assist in other areas of the Smiddy
- Due to the nature of our business, the ability to work flexible shifts and weekends is essential.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 24 per week
Salary: £10.50-£10.60 per hour

Experience:
- Retail sales: 2 years (required)
- customer service: 2 years (preferred)
