Secret Cinema has been thrilling audiences for 15 years, delivering deeply unforgettable experiences, fusing the world of cinema and site-specific immersive entertainment. Audiences get the chance to experience their favourite characters and stories in a whole new way, and with titles like Moulin Rouge!, Blade Runner and Dirty Dancing, attracting over half a million visitors in the past 5 years alone.
We are currently looking to recruit a team of outgoing and proactive people to become Retail Assistants to work with us on our newest immersive experience Secret Cinema Presents Grease at the NEC in Birmingham. This role will require working in a variety of customer facing positions including merchandise stalls, photography installations and dealing with audience queries, all while providing our guests with narrative guidance and support to help them navigate their experience to the fullest; to do so they will be in costume and in character as part of our 1950s world.
Ideal candidates will have retail experience and an events or performance background. Will be outgoing and confident in a dynamic retail environment. The production is based entirely outdoors and this role will require you to stand for long periods of time. All candidates must be based in Birmingham, Solihull, or the surrounding area in order to be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring the store is fully stocked.
- Maintaining the merchandise and store conditions throughout the evening.
- Maintaining a welcoming atmosphere whilst handling customer requests in an efficient and professional way.
- Interacting with customers and identifying their needs and preferences.
- Operating point-of-sale machines.
- Operating and handling photographic opportunity equipment, where necessary.
- Receiving and verifying the quality and quantity of new shipments.
- Fully immerse guests into the world we are creating by honing character and back-story as well as being familiar with the overarching narrative of the show.
- Ensuring customer safety and wellbeing during immersive experiences.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in a retail environment is a plus.
- Must be an approachable, proactive person with great communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Ability to confidently maintain a character that fits the event narrative whilst always remaining professional within your required sales role.
- Previous experience of working in an immersive event will be an advantage.
- Applicants must be available to work evenings and weekends.
- Must be comfortable working evening and weekend shifts.
- Must be local to Birmingham, Solihull, or the surrounding area.
