Rootes Grocery Store is a multi-award winner supermarket located on central campus at the University of Warwick. Serving over 30,000 customer a week in term time, the store stocks an incredible range of international food, freshly baked goods, newspapers, stationary and everything else students and staff might be looking for.

This is part time role 30 hours per week 5 days over 7 including evening and weekends shifts.

JOB PURPOSE
In To provide a polite, effective and efficient service for customers using Rootes grocery store on campus
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ensure the shop is adequately stocked:
2. Assisting colleagues in checking off deliveries to delivery notes.
3. Serve customers in a sensitive, polite and considerate manner including:
4. Assisting in the operation of the in-store hot food areas including:
5. First point of contact for enquiries/complaints from customers, resolving issues where possible and passing to a manager or supervisor where appropriate.
6. Ensure the shop is maintained in a clean and tidy manner:
7. Any other duties commensurate with the grade of the job.
Flexibility is vital in this post. All post holders will on a rota basis work early shifts, daytime shifts, evening shifts and weekend shifts as part of their normal working week.

- Including both food and non-food lines, newspapers, fruit and vegetables, etc.
- Re-stocking the shelves to ensure they are filled to an appropriate level and standard.
- Moving stock from main freezer to shop freezer, checking stock required.
2. Assisting colleagues in checking off deliveries to delivery notes.
3. Serve customers in a sensitive, polite and considerate manner including:
- Scanning items through the till and processing payments.
- Calling colleagues for pricing enquiry.
- Processing mobile phone “top-ups” and Lottery transactions, sales and prizes.
4. Assisting in the operation of the in-store hot food areas including:
- Following detailed instructions to bake-off and heat up products
- Maintaining excellent standards of Food Hygiene
- Cleaning equipment used in food preparation
- Pricing products
- Serving customers at the hot food counter
5. First point of contact for enquiries/complaints from customers, resolving issues where possible and passing to a manager or supervisor where appropriate.
6. Ensure the shop is maintained in a clean and tidy manner:
- Cleaning up rubbish.
- Ensuring items are in the right place.
- Clearing up spillages, maintaining a consciousness both of Food Safety and Health and Safety implications.
7. Any other duties commensurate with the grade of the job.
