Reporting to: Retail Manager
Location: Chelmsford, Essex
Type: Permanent, Full Time
Weekday Hours: Monday - Friday: 07:00 to 17:00
Weekend Hours: Saturday (1 in 3): 08:00 to 12:30, in the Braintree branch

The business specialises in servicing the construction, civil engineering and related industries with power tools, accessories, consumables and PPE/ workwear. Scope of the Role
The main purpose of this role is to help customers identify and purchase the products they require, whilst upselling branch promotions, associated products and add-ons. Working on the shop floor, you will be responsible for ensuring that all customers are welcomed in a friendly manner, complaints and queries are dealt with efficiently and the store areas are merchandised as per the company’s principles. It is also the responsibility of the Retail Assistant to process purchases, bag/box products for safe delivery and clean/tidy when required.

It is the responsibility of the Retail Assistant to maintain these standards. The position is highly varied and requires you to work in a dynamic fast paced environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Work towards the growth and success of the sales.
- Deal with customer queries and complaints when they arise.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service.
- Maintain outstanding branch condition and visual merchandising standards.
- Restock displays and shelving, rotating products when necessary.
- Ascertain the customers’ needs and wants.
- Recommend and advise on products that may fit the customers requirements whilst trying to upsell additional lines.
- Process customer payments, bag and box products for safe delivery and provide receipts when needed.
- Work with the Retail Manager to understand sales promotions, product mixes and pricing strategies.
- Assist in the planning and running of trade events and promotional days.
- Work towards turnover and margin targets set by the Retail Manager and Sales Manager.
- Welcome and greet customers in a friendly manner.
- Keep up to date with product knowledge and specifications.
- Accurately describe and sell the product's features and benefits.
- Ensure that you are abiding by the Company’s detailed health and safety policy and ensure that the work environment aligns with the HSE regulations.
- Any other ad-hoc tasks required by the business.
- This role required you to work one Saturday every three weeks in the Braintree branch, you must have reliable means of transport to get to each location needed by the business.

Key Requirements
- 1+ years of retail experience, ideally in a related industry
- Product knowledge or an interest in construction
- Proven track record of sales in a retail setting
- Experience in merchandising
- Experience in organising and running trade days/ events
