Admissions and Retail Assistant

Join our lovely team at The Monkey Sanctuary and help us raise vital funds for our rescued monkeys!

Wild Futures is the UK charity with the holistic approach that combines an educational, environmental and sustainability remit dedicated to promoting the welfare, conservation and survival of our closest living relatives, the non-human primates; working to end the primate trade and abuse of primates in captivity, promoting the rehabilitation of captive primates and the preservation of those in the wild, whilst operating The Monkey Sanctuary for primates in need of a long term home.

Job Description:

We are looking for help in the gift shop and admissions desk at the Monkey Sanctuary for our open season, between May and the 29th October. We will be open for weekends outside of school holidays and Wednesday to Sunday during school holidays. Hours: normally 10.30am to 4 or 5pm.

Main Responsibilities

· To be polite, friendly and helpful, always offering the highest in customer care and service, both at the admissions desk or in the shop.

· To give short introductory talks to visitors explaining the work of Wild Futures and the Sanctuary, its aims, ethics and responsibilities.

· To handle sales of shop goods using the till and card machine.

· To cash-up the till and credit card machine at the end of each day.

· To serve hot and cold drinks, hot and cold snacks, cakes etc.

· To keep the shop tidy and clean both during the day and at the end of the day.

· To keep the kitchen clean, tidy and to Health and Hygiene standards.

· To help keep all visitor areas clean, including the toilets.

· To help with administration tasks in support of the FR team.

You will need to be enthusiastic, enjoy working with our visitors, work well under pressure and be flexible in helping our small team provide a a great experience for our supporters. All profits raised goes towards the charity's vital welfare and conservation work. Join a lovely team with great job satisfaction in helping an important cause!

Salary: £10.42 per hour
