The Boatyard is an independent brunch café a stone’s throw from Cullercoats Bay. We’re looking for someone with hospitality experience to join our team as a Supervisor.
About Us
Since opening in 2015 we’ve forged a strong reputation as a go-to brunch spot on the coast. From a banging full-English, to colourful & creative vegan offerings our food has seen us pick up rave reviews and repeat customers.
We source ingredients locally when possible, from some fantastic suppliers. We use the best beans, roasted a few miles down the road, and have a growing reputation for exceptional coffee

We’re open 8:00-5:00 daily, and on busy days hit over 150 covers
About You:
- Knowledgeable about the local restaurant scene, with a keen interest in food & drink trends
- Ability to deliver outstanding customer service and inspire those around you to do the same
- Barista experience: preferred. Passion for delivering great coffee: essential
- Infectiously positive attitude, and sense of humour
- Eye for detail, high expectations of yourself and others
- Flexible, organized and a great communicator
- Self-motivated, relish a challenge, with a real knack for solving problems
- Excellent communication skills, and comfortable with use of computers
The Job:
- Work under Café Manager and with other Supervisors to lead the Front of House team
- Help with the evolution of The Boatyard café, suggesting ways to improve service, style and menu
- lead from the front. Motivate, coach, and develop your team
- it’s a dynamic, hands-on role, so be prepared to be smashing out flat whites while charming customers and conducting staff
- liaise with chefs to ensure smooth service from the kitchen and report back customer experience
- Lead shifts in the Manager’s absence, troubleshoot any issues that arise
- Assist with ordering, paperwork, and maintain our 5-star food hygiene status
Details:
- Up to £24k/year, depending on experience and agreed weekly hours

- We’re dog friendly, so you must be comfortable around dogs
- We're looking for someone to commit to a minimum of 3 shifts a week, or could be a full-time position. Availability over weekends is essential, but we rotate weekend days off between staff (will discuss specifics during the hiring process)
- Daytime shifts, as café closes at 5pm (occasional evening work required)

This is a wonderful opportunity for somebody with hospitality experience and is looking to further their career. Some managerial/supervisory experience is preferred, but for the right individual it may be a good chance to step up.
