Binks Yard
Full Time Nottingham, England 10.56 - 12.04 GBP Today
Job description

We are 1 The Island Quarter.

1 The Island Quarter is an ambitious and exciting real estate development of a 36 acre freehold site in the heart of Nottingham, a development that has been ongoing since 2016 when the land was acquired.

We are a new & dynamic hospitality team charged with creating 1 The Island Quarter to be a sustainable business, transforming it into a cultural hub, a new and exciting destination for experiencing food, arts, music, sporting events and other community interests. The first phase consists of 2 restaurants - Binks Yard and Cleaver & Wake, an outside live events space with a bandstand and an internal venue for private functions, a rooftop terrace as well as a florist.

What we do at 1 The Island Quarter is much more than be just a venue. Our guest-centric team love what they do, taking pride in always delivering value and consistency, they are actively generous in going the extra mile to create great memories for our guests, aiming to deliver genuine, exceptional service that is inclusive, authentic and fun.

Binks Yard

Our Binks Yard team care about our guests, from our front of house team welcoming you in, our bar team serving up not only drinks but an experience and our kitchen team creating a plate that excites and delights you. They care about each other as well as our guests, our open plan kitchen allows you to see the dishes being crafted and our team will focus on ensuring Binks Yard becomes a regular occurrence for your occasions.

Guest focussed, charisma, flair and excellent cocktail experience are amongst the special ingredients you will need to make the perfect bartender at Binks Yard. Using your genuine interest for all things hospitality, you will use your bubbly personality and emotional intelligence to adapt yourself to each guest, in an often fast-paced environment, leading from the front and supporting your team to do the same.

Managing 20 beer lines including 4 real ales and 16 different lagers, craft, beers, IPA’s, stout and ciders, you understand stock rotation, managing wastage and have an eye for detail when it comes to cleanliness and hygiene. A passion for hospitality and giving our guests the best experience, you are attentive, knowledgeable, engaging and composed under pressure. With no 2 days being the same, you are adaptable and flexible as the rota requires, including opening up the bar to brand standards and closing down the bar in line with stock rotation, cashing up, deep cleaning and due diligence checks e.g. fridge temperatures and wastage reporting.

You will need to know the full drinks offering, but having been in hospitality previously, you will find this second nature and training will be provided alongside the knowledge needed of our menus, drinks offerings and food safety standards. A keen eye for detail you will ensure that the bar and your team reflect our brands in a positive way, guest and audit ready at all times.

Deputising for the Bar Manager, you will be managing performance, attendance and completing regular reviews with your team, managing sickness and completing return to works. Creating rotas as per business needs is key and ensuring all events are staffed correctly, as well as being fully stocked in both beverages and glasses/crockery. You will be training up newer members of the team, ensuring their development is ongoing, using down time in shifts to develop your own knowledge too. Career development is something we encourage so if you want to keep progressing, our team is here to help you.
