Job description
Barnardo's sets very high standards for the work we do with the children, young people and families we support. We demonstrate every day through our work that we believe in children and we only want people to work with us who share our belief.
We are recruiting for a permanent Residential Project Worker role within our Leaving Care Service in Belfast.
The Leaving Care Service aims to build relationships with care leavers to ensure aspirational goal-setting for moving towards independence. As a Residential Project Worker you will become not only part of the Barnardo's family, you will also become an extension of the care we work hard to bring to the lives of the children, young people and families we support.
The Residential Project Worker's (RPW) role is to co-keywork and support the assessment of young people's strengths and needs and the implementation of individual support plans, designed to maximize the potential for achieving independent living. RPW's have specific responsibility for designated young people and will complete work in partnership with the Keyworker and wider team to help young care leavers develop skills and abilities that will enable them to maintain their tenancy within the supported living accommodation and beyond. This will be achieved through informal day to day contact with young people as well as planned pieces of 1-1 work undertaken at times that fit with their commitments in relation to training, education or employment.
All staff will be suitably qualified, experienced, trained and supported as well as able to work consistently and professionally as a team. Staff will promote the therapeutic use of continual positive regard, so that young people feel valued, accepted and empowered to make decisions and learn through positive risk taking.
Service Specific Shortlisting Criteria
