SUMMARY
The Construction Foreman assists the Project Manager by overseeing and managing the on-site build activities for Douglah Designs (DD) clients as assigned by the Project Manager. The Construction Foreman operates hand and power tools of all types and will be assigned to clean and prepare project job sites to eliminate possible hazards. Construction Foreman will actively participate in the residential build/remodel-they will be expected to perform all construction duties.
Works with the Project Manager to allocate crew members to the projects assigned to the Foreman.
Oversees and manages performance of the crew assigned to the Foreman’s projects.
Coordinates construction activities, including build tasks, material/product deliveries, and inspection scheduling.
Oversees preparation and clean-up of job sites.
Manages all field sub-contractors assigned to the Foreman’s projects.
Participates in pre-construction meetings and activities with the clients and construction staff, as required.
Manages quality control on construction projects.
May need to fulfill the role of Installer on an as needed basis.
Resolves all the Foreman’s job site issues; partners with Project Manager as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises construction crew team members assigned to the Foreman’s projects, including Installers, Helpers, and sub-contractors
- Tracks and manages performance of staff assigned to this role. Provides performance feedback to the Project Manager
- Assigns tasks and activities, and tracks status and quality of deliverables
- Typically supervises one to two DD employees at one time
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Will be at construction/remodeling sites where there is dirt, dust, potentially hazardous conditions, and a loud work environment. May work outside and be exposed to weather. May work in the office on occasion, the noise level in the office work environment is usually low.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
Frequently required to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds. This position entails heavy physical demands.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to sit two to four hours at a time working on a computer or during a project planning meeting
Handle and use tools, equipment, products, and materials as required to support client projects
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm. Some Saturdays may be on an as needed basis.
TRAVEL
No long-term travel is expected for this position. However, this position travels to project job sites and other locations near the company offices and project locations.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must have a minimum of 6-8 years of construction trade experience, with at least 3 years in a similar role supervising a construction crew
- Must be proficient in reading blueprints or construction plans and must be able to determine work activities and build accurately from them
- Possession of a California contractor’s license and specialized trade training is desirable
- Must own and operate standard construction-related tools and devices (e.g. saws, drills, hammers, jack hammers, nail guns, etc.)
- Must be knowledgeable in industry safety requirements, such as OSHA
- Must have a strong understanding of applicable building codes
- Must be an excellent problem solver and be able to make timely and sound decisions
- Must possess excellent client service skills
- Must be able to work independently and with little direct supervision
- Must have a “can do” and positive attitude
- Must have strong time management skills and multi-tasking abilities, and be able to resolve conflicting priorities
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Must also possess valid auto insurance
- Must possess strong mathematical skills
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have a HS Diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- First Aid / CPR Certified. Education will be provided for this position
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a clean driving record.
