Common Thread are now looking to employ a Childcare House Manager in our Perth house.
As a Registered Childcare Manager you will have overall responsibility for the day to day running of the Home in line with policies and procedures, Care Inspectorate requirements and Local Authorities’ expectations. You will also be expected to take on call responsibilities when required.
At Common Thread are dedicated to leading in the creation and provision of innovative healing environments for children and young people who have been hurt by trauma, abuse and neglect. We are continually evaluating experiences and outcomes to ensure children and young people, and their carers have a positive experience of being part of the CTG.
We are also committed to identifying gaps in service provisions on a National and UK basis. One such gap, identified via the Nation Care Review is a service for girls that acts to divert them from being placed in Secure Care.
‘The Promise,’ specifically mentions the use of secure care for girls:
“Specific residential, therapeutic settings for girls who have been sexually abused and exploited must be developed. Those girls must not be held in inappropriate settings. Their deep pain and trauma must be recognised across services and settings that uphold their rights and meet their needs in an informed and therapeutic way.” (pg. 81)
We’re looking for dedicated manager who is passionate and committed to making a difference to the lives of vulnerable young girls and have the drive to grow and develop in a professional environment.
Over and above qualifications and experience we are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate a proven track record in supporting young people achieve the highest possible outcomes through therapeutic and creative practice.
Job
- Location: Perth
- Minimum 2 years experience within a children residential home within the last 5 years.
- At least 2 years experience of supervising and managing professional staff. Equivalent of Senior Residential Childcare Worker would be the minimum requirement
- Hours: 40 hours Full time.- Flexibility required. Weekend work required.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Excellent knowledge of legislative and requirements in Children’s home in line with the Care Inspectorate regulations
- To ensure our home meets and maintain the standards and expectations of our company and promote safeguarding and welfare of children and young people at all times.
- Extensive experience of working with children with challenging and emotional behaviour in a residential care setting
- Experience in staff supervision and development
- Experience of budget management and change management
- To establish and maintain an excellent, motivated and competent team of staff and support them as required.
