Criminal record check requirements: This role is subject to DBS, NPPV and Security Clearance.


Due to nature of the work we undertake, all applicants must have lived in the UK continuously for the past three years and will be required to obtain security clearance which we will arrange.

About the role:

We are looking to recruit Forensic Reporting Scientist(s) who specialise in the field of Forensic Biology and/or Forensic Chemistry. You will be part of an expanding team in our Forensic Operations department. Positions are available at both our Abingdon and Chorley sites. As a Forensic Reporting Scientist (Biology), you will have extensive experience of reporting complex cases, including sexual offences, involving the examination of body fluid evidence and the interpretation of DNA results. Experience in reporting cases involving Blood Pattern Analysis (BPA) and experience of crime scene examination are desirable but not essential. As a Forensic Reporting Scientist (Chemistry), you will have extensive experience of reporting complex cases, involving one or more chemistry evidence types (e.g. footwear marks, toolmarks, glass, paint, corrosive substances, accelerants, etc).


Duties will include:

You will have experience of liaising with customers such as the Police and CPS. In addition, you will have experience of presenting complex evidence in court and delivering reports in line with agreed turnaround times.

Previous experience of training/mentoring more junior staff would also be beneficial for this role, as there will be an expectation that you actively engage in the continuous scientific development of the team.

You will be educated to BSc. Degree in a relevant scientific subject.
