Please ensure you complete and submit your application as soon as possible for consideration *** ______________________________________________________________________________ The Role At CENTRIC (Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Intelligence, Resilience and Organised Crime) we are recruiting for a Research Fellow to contribute to CENTRIC’s research agenda and growth strategy across our priority research areas. CENTRIC delivers a wide range of large-scale security initiatives, both in the UK and internationally, focused on innovative and transformative applied research. The role is suited to someone with an innovation-driven mindset and passion for applied R&D who can work in a security-focused interdisciplinary environment and is able to explain complex concepts in an engaging and concise manner. Your role will involve being responsible for the development and enhancement of CENTRIC’s research expertise in one or more of the following areas: Technology and Policing. National Security including counterterrorism with specific focus on the role of technology. Artificial Intelligence applied to Security & Policing. Big Data Analytics Serious and Organised Crime. Open-Source Intelligence. Cyber Crime and Cyber Security. Boarder Security and Border Management You will work closely with the Head of Innovation and the Director of CENTRIC to identify and explore research opportunities including preparing funding applications for a range of funders. You will be expected to collaborate with CENTRIC partners to identity innovation pathways for policing and security that contribute to CENTRIC’s long-term growth. You will play a key role in the successful of delivery of CENTRIC’s research programme whilst supporting several projects and research activities. The role will give you the opportunity to develop your research expertise in a wide range of areas within the security domain. CENTRIC has a broad and diverse network of collaborative partners; consequently, you will develop strong links with universities, law enforcement agencies, NGOs and industry, and have the opportunity to work closely with researchers and practitioners with a wide range of backgrounds and expertise. The Team CENTRIC is a multidisciplinary, security focused research centre, located at Sheffield Hallam University. By collaborating with a number of academic, law enforcement, government and industry partners from across the EU, CENTRIC's objective is to address issues and provide solutions to some of Europe's most pressing contemporary security challenges. CENTRIC aims to provide a platform for researchers, practitioners, policy makers and the public to focus on applied research in the security domain. The Centre's activities are firmly underpinned by consideration for citizen perspectives, the interests and engagement of all end-users, as well as key societal and relevant ethical issues.
