Due to expansion, we are looking for a Biologist to join our Research Biology team, you will work with the Platform Lead to support the Herbicide Resistance Team in developing an industry-leading herbicide resistance research platform.
Having a well organised and collaborative attitude you will help deliver high-quality biological materials in a timely manner. Your organisation skills will help when you assist plant production to generate material for GH spray tests and liaise with the Horticultural Operations Team to ensure all dates are planned and plant quality is achieved. The aim is to deliver good quality plant units for Resistance spray tests.
The position supports the Platform Lead with seed purification and bulking activities internally and in collaboration with external partners. This will be essential for generating and maintaining populations for supporting the research conducted by the Herbicide Resistance team.
To succeed in this position, you will thrive in an environment that is customer focused, you will be a team player and you will be highly organised. The work will involve working in glasshouse and occasionally in the lab. You will be expected to become familiar with and use company databases (BioME) and analytics platforms (Spotfire) in order to store, retrieve and share data to different stakeholders
Education & Experience
- B.Sc. degree or equivalent experience gained in a related field preferred
- Demonstrates expertise and knowledge relating to the resistance research platform
- Expierence working with plants within a research context, with a knoweldege of germination and seed viability tests
- Degree level or extensive experience using molecular genetic workflows (Desirable)
