Research Associate/Senior Research Associate, Cell & Molecular Biology

Applications are invited for a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to join our team at OrthoBio Therapeutics (http://www.orthobiotherapeutics.com/), where you will be responsible for supporting a programme of research focused on the evaluation of gene-editing solutions for musculoskeletal disease. We are looking for a talented, self-reliant individual who brings cutting-edge laboratory skills to support the design, execution, and interpretation of ongoing work with CRISPR-Cas9 and other gene editing platforms.

Essential requirements

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD/DPhil) degree in a biological discipline
  • At least 2 years’ full-time laboratory experience with cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blot, nucleic acid/protein extraction, viral and/or non-viral transfection methods, primer design and quantitative PCR
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a hard-working, motivated, and enthusiastic team.
  • Proactive and flexible, with a proven ability to perform under pressure.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and record keeping skills

Desirable skills

  • Advanced degree in Cell/Molecular Biology, Genetics, Cancer Biology or Immunology
  • Experience with gene editing technologies such as CRISPR-Cas9, siRNA, TALEN, etc.
  • Experience with RNA biology, including in-vitro transcription protocols

This is a full-time position with a very competitive salary and benefits package that is funded for 24 months in the first instance. Candidates may on occasion be asked to work outside of normal working hours. Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment and a security check.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £35,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
