About You and the Role
Dr Fran Pilkington-Cheney and Professor John Groeger are seeking applications for the role of post-doctoral Research Assistant, to contribute to their recently Road Safety Trust funded project, SleepiEst. Over three years, working with the National Police Wellbeing Service, SleepiEst will conduct a large, nationwide, survey of serving officers and police employees- which will their identify sleep, fatigue and wellbeing challenges in relation to shift working patterns, collect sleep an performance data across several working weeks in a sub sample, and use these and other data (on-board driving telematics) to model effects of fatigue and sleep loss. The successful candidate will be expected to support each of these activities in relation to research design, statistical analysis and reporting; facilitate relationships with stakeholders; and contribute to the design and development of an interactive ‘sleepiness estimator’. We anticipate interviewing candidates no later than w/c 5th June, with the appointment beginning as soon as possible thereafter.
This role would suit a graduate, probably in psychology, who has post-graduate research experience in relation to sleep and/or circadian research, shiftwork or driving; strong writing/presentational skills, and a high level of statistical /mathematical knowledge.
