Job description
Job Advert
We are seeking to recruit a skilled Research Assistant to join a team investigating epigenetic mechanisms in oocytes and embryos. We are particularly interested in the role of cytoplasmic complexes in the oocyte in epigenetic establishment and reprogramming events (Demond et al. 2019 PMID: 31847873; Anvar et al. 2021 PMID: 34440388). The position is funded by a grant from Wellcome.
The successful applicant will apply cutting-edge epigenomic methods in genetic models to investigate how chromatin and gene expression are altered in response to disruption of oocyte cytoplasm structures.
The ideal candidate should have a BSc or MSc in molecular biology, genetics, developmental biology or a related biological discipline. He/she should have a strong interest in developmental epigenetics. Experience in mammalian oocyte biology and embryology, or epigenomics methods such as ChIP-seq including low-cell methods, is essential to be successful in this role. Experience in imaging would also be highly desirable.
We are looking for applicants who are collaborative with effective communication skills and enjoy working in a small team who bring complementary expertise to the project. The Epigenetics Programme provides a highly collaborative and thriving research setting, and enjoys access to state-of-the-art facilities run by dedicated staff, including Genomics, Bioinformatics, Gene Targeting and Imaging. The successful applicant will be able to benefit from the strong training environment to develop skills in these technological areas.
This is a limited term appointment with funding for this post expected to be available until 30th September 2024.
Informal enquiries can be addressed to Dr Gavin Kelsey, [email protected]
