We are looking for a Postgraduate Research Assistant to work on an MRC-funded human malaria challenge trial. This is a grade 6 post (salary range £31,396 to £36,024) within the School of Biological Sciences and provides full time employment for 24-months (expected start date December 1st 2023).
The Opportunity:
This role provides the opportunity to work as part of a human immunology team exploring mechanisms of disease tolerance in malaria. The successful candidate will co-ordinate laboratory work during the clinical trial and spend up to two months in Oxford processing whole blood samples for downstream analyses (e.g. mass cytometry). The remainder of the time will be spent in Ashworth Laboratories (University of Edinburgh) analysing samples and data, and presenting results to the clinical and research teams.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Experience in processing human blood and bone marrow samples
- Expertise in culturing human bone marrow organoids
- Broad knowledge of malaria and human immunology
- Analysis skills in R Excellent written and oral communication skills
