Newcastle University is a great place to work, with excellent benefits . We have a generous holiday package; plus the opportunity to buy more, great pension schemes and a number of health and wellbeing initiatives to support you.
Closing Date: 2 July 2023
The Role
We are looking for an experienced researcher to work on projects aimed at characterizing tissue and circulating biomarkers in genetic muscle diseases.
In these projects we are going to use a variety of new techniques to study muscle biopsies of patients with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) and other muscle disorders, and to detect circulating biomarkers in patients’ plasma and serum. The final aim is to identify the key molecular pathways that are dysregulated in FSHD and other myopathies and to confirm them in vitro in cellular models of the disease. The successful candidate will work in the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre, a centre for translational research in genetic neuromuscular diseases with around 90 team members.
This post is full time and tenable for 36 months.
