Job description

Research and Innovation Development Officer

Are you an experienced and ambitious Research and Innovation Development professional looking to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities? Do you have experience working with stakeholders in the commercial food processing and nutrition sectors?

We are looking for a Research and Innovation Development Officer to support the School of Food Science and Nutrition in expanding their research collaborations with industry and other partners. The University of Leeds has more than 50 years of experience in food and nutrition research, with a strong global reputation and core competencies in food innovation technology, nutrition, diet and health. This role will support the University and the School in continuing to develop its ‘post-farm gate’ research and innovation portfolio. You will help to maximise research impact and drive the growth of external income from Innovate UK, Research Councils, and other translational funding streams, through harnessing existing business collaborations and establishing new partnerships across the food sector that align with the School of Food Science and Nutrition and University’s research and innovation strengths.

You will have a degree or equivalent experience in a relevant subject area or industry sector, alongside experience of working with stakeholders in the commercial food sector. You will also have knowledge of funding mechanisms for supporting innovation and a track record of successfully leading or working in teams to develop, support and deliver research translation, innovation, and business engagement in complex organisations. You will have excellent project management skills, and the ability to build and sustain effective and value-adding internal and external partnerships.
