The Secretariat is a dedicated team who provide analytical research, planning and policy guidance to The King's Private Secretaries and wider Household departments.
Working with departments throughout the organisation, as well as external stakeholders in Government and other public authorities, you will provide high level support to senior members of the organisation through carrying out qualitative and quantitative research. You will lead on or contribute to a range of short and long term projects, from research related tasks to official engagements and constitutional matters.
You will also help develop concepts for Royal engagements by thinking creatively and analysing national and local trends and issues, as well as statistics from past events.
Contributing to policy-making decisions and internal corporate governance, you will plan and attend meetings on behalf of the Secretariat and Private Secretaries, producing agendas, reports and summaries as required.
You will analyse and monitor matters of interest across the UK, Realms and Commonwealth, recommending actions and highlighting information that will influence strategic decisions.
Another important aspect of your role will be assisting with the review of material under information access regimes, reviewing historical files and ensuring records are maintained.
Balancing the range of queries and deadlines will be challenging, which will stretch and develop your skills. Knowing that you’re providing vital support to the entire Household will inspire you to deliver your very best.
Educated to degree level (or equivalent), you will have experience working in a relevant environment and a proven interest in research and analysis, including qualitative and quantitative skills.
You may also have experience working with Government departments and be familiar with the FOI Act and related processes.
With excellent knowledge of current affairs and an understanding of the political, economic and geographical infrastructure of the UK, Realms and Commonwealth, you will be able to provide context and background information in your briefings.
Your excellent attention to detail means you are able to consume and review information effectively, before drawing up comprehensive reports and summaries.
Able to balance conflicting deadlines and prioritise your workload, you will be comfortable managing multiple projects and tasks.
With strong communication skills and the ability to build good working relationships, you will liaise effectively and sensitively with senior colleagues and external stakeholders. What’s more, you will adapt your work to suit different needs and audiences.
Your confidence to make effective decisions will enable you to provide valuable guidance, negotiate with others and make informed recommendations.
With excellent IT skills, you are confident in managing computer databases and working with MS Office programs.
Above all, you are self-motivated and enjoy working alongside and collaborating with colleagues with a shared and truly unique purpose.
