About the Role
- Support the growth of the R & D function within Wienerberger Ltd
- Characterise new and innovative raw materials for use in the production of construction products, including bricks, blocks and roof tiles.
- Investigate and evaluate materials and processes which may be used to reduce the embodied carbon of construction products
- Coordinate and lead Research & Development projects
- Liaise with colleagues throughout the business to ensure Wienerberger achieves its ambitious carbon reduction target
- Help to develop a decarbonisation programme to reach net-zero carbon emissions before 2050
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm
About You
- Passionate about reducing carbon emissions and producing sustainable construction materials
- An academic background in chemistry, material science, concrete technology, ceramic technology, engineering or a related field
- Strong communication skills and an ability to produce scientific documents
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to present the results and recommendations from an R & D project to a wide and varied audience
- Experience of working in a laboratory environment
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing procedures
- Basic understanding of different types of raw materials used in the production of clay bricks/ roof tiles and concrete tiles. Skilled at “hands on” work with laboratory equipment and materials testing
