The analysis of PPP (Plant Protection Products) residues in fruit and vegetable crops is vitally important for protecting animal and human health. Through knowledge of the identity, character and potential toxicity of parent compounds, degradation products or metabolites, regulators can set MRLs and guidance to minimise operator exposure. You can be part of the team that do this at our Shardlow site, in Derbyshire.
As part of this team you will conduct the actual physical manipulations required to analyse samples. There is a wide variety of methods and various techniques are required to analyse the samples.
A good working knowledge of some or all of the following techniques would be required LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, HPLC-uv, GC-FID and ICP-MS.
The job responsibilities include:
- Analyse samples and process data for assigned studies.
- Perform method validation.
- Perform basic method development.
- Interpret data to ensure acceptance criteria are achieved and anomalous results are identified.
- Produce data summaries.
- Perform QC checking of analytical data.
- Diversify knowledge of analytical instrumentation with guidance from senior personnel.
- Increase theoretical knowledge of analytical techniques by using CHROMacademy.
- Proactively manage consumable stock levels.
- Clean and maintain allocated work areas and equipment in line with departmental procedures.
- Accept responsibility for the condition and maintenance of allocated equipment.
Experience:
- An understanding of health and safety policies, company policies and procedures, and a strong understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Strong instrumentation knowledge. HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS.
- Familiarity with the workings of an analytical chemistry laboratory.
