POSITION SUMMARY:
Due to a high volume of work the Boku legal team is looking for a mid-tier Regulatory Counsel to join our small (but global) team in London. Reporting to Senior Counsel (Regulatory & Product) the successful candidate will play a key role in providing day to day legal/regulatory advice and helping the business implement various strategic imperatives. The Regulatory Counsel will be actively involved in supporting the Company's efforts to navigate regulatory conditions to support the Company's core and emerging products whilst maintaining its flexibility to operate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting and working with various teams, in particular the Compliance, Commercial, Finance and Product teams to support new and existing initiatives and products
- Policy drafting and review
- Monitoring, reporting and advising on legal and regulatory issues affecting the business including its regulated entities
- Project management and coordinating various regulatory submissions and filings, particularly with respect to the procuring and management of payment licenses and regulated entities on a global basis
- Other duties assigned at management's discretion
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 – 4+ PQE
- Law degree and excellent academic credentials
- Experience in payments industry or financial services sector, with experience with the payment technology landscape a plus
- Ability to provide practical, strategic and business-oriented legal advice
- Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively manage multiple time sensitive tasks
- Ability to forge strong relationships with individuals from a variety of backgrounds/cultures at all levels of management and work within cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Open to work-related travel
- Good understanding of technology, e-commerce and international trade and economics
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Cross-border and emerging markets experience
- Good numeracy
- Foreign languages
