About the role
Due to movement within the team, we are recruiting several temporary Registration Assistants. We are looking for individuals who have a great attitude, are willing to work as part of a team and can demonstrate outstanding customer service and organisational skills. You will have enthusiasm and dedication to ensure our customers receive the best quality service.
Who we are
We are the independent regulator for social service workers in Scotland. Our work means the people of Scotland can count on social work, social care and early years services being provided by a trusted, skilled and confident workforce.
We protect the public by registering social work, social care and early years workers, setting standards for their practice, conduct, training and education and by supporting their professional development. Where people fall below the standards of practice and conduct, we can investigate and take action.

We are looking for someone who:
- is educated to national 4/5 or standard grade general/credit level or equivalent, ideally with an SVQ at SCQF level 6 or equivalent in Business and Administration or Customer Service or Highers or HNC in Administration and Information Technology or other relevant subjects

- has the ability to understand and follow set processes
- can work with the general public, with an emphasis on customer service and satisfaction
- can answer telephone calls and handle enquiries accurately and professionally
- can handle confidential information
- can screen information using set procedures
- has knowledge of the importance of data protection regulations and confidentiality.
Why work for us
We are an ambitious, enthusiastic and supportive organisation. With around 300 employees, you can really make an impact here. We offer a generous salary, flexible working arrangements, a full range of benefits, local government pension scheme and up to 43 days holiday (dependent on service). Please note new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range.

We are adopting agile working to maximise the benefits for the SSSC to meet our business needs and to improve the service we provide to our customers. Agile working presents many opportunities for you and for SSSC as an employer. Agile working gives you more choice over deciding how, when and where you work best in a way that balances your needs and those of our customers, our staff and ourselves. It’s about giving you more choice about how you do the right work, in the right place, at the right time. Agile working arrangements (also known as hybrid working, remote working, blended working or split-working arrangements or patterns) allow you to arrange your work time and work location in the most appropriate way for a given activity. This includes working in an office, at home or at another remote location. Where, when and how you choose to work may depend on the task you are doing and the kind of role you have. Please discuss this during an informal chat prior to interview or if you are shortlisted, at interview.
It is our intention to make agile working the default working practice wherever we can. However, we know that agile working is not for everyone and will provide office accommodation where required.
All applicants must live in Scotland and will be expected to attend the SSSC office from time to time as required.
