The Role

Here at Forest Veterinary Group, we are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team. The role will include working across both sites and duties involve:

  • Delivering a high standard of nursing care to the patients
  • Assisting the Veterinary Surgeons
  • Liaise with clients with regards to inpatient care
  • Carry out nurse clinics
  • Assist with surgical procedures
  • Guide and support Student Veterinary Nurse's
  • Adhere to all SOP's
  • Admit and discharge patients for routine operations
  • Keep up to date with preventative healthcare
  • Product knowledge and practice policies
  • Maintain accurate client and patient medical records at all times to include computer updates, hospital and anaesthetic forms
  • Dispense repeat prescriptions
  • Assist with reception and veterinary surgeons as and when required
  • Maintain and clean all equipment in the appropriate manner

The rota includes working 40 hours per week over 5 days. Saturdays are from 8:30am-1:00pm on a rota basis. The usual shifts are Monday- Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm or 10:30-7:00pm on a rota. There are no out of hours.

The salary for this role will be up to £30,000 depending on experience.

About Us

We are a group of two practices with an established client base. Both practices are minutes off the M4, close to Swansea. Cardiff airport is just an hour away with Bristol and Birmingham airports easily accessible. We are surrounded by countryside and can offer something for everyone. We are near the Gower coastline and the Brecon Beacons. We are also on the main trainline from South Wales to London.

Our practice is fully equipped with a new ultrasound, digital xray and have recently acquired an endoscope. We have IDEXX biochemistry / haemotology and multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring.

Currently our practice has 2 Clinical Directors and a Veterinary Surgeon, all with over 15 years’ experience, 7 full time Registered Veterinary Nurses, a Student Nurse, 3 Animal Care Assistants, 5 Receptionists, an Administrator and our Practice Manager. We have a regular locum with a special interest in orthopaedic surgery, and a number of locums who return time and time again, which is testament to the team that we have. We are working with a visiting ophthalmologist to hold regular clinics imminently. One of our Clinical Directors has a CertAVP in Emergency medicine.
