About the Role Ranworth PCN has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced healthcare assistant to join our team on a zero hours contract, to cover periods of leave, sickness and extra workload across our 6 practices. You will support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education. The main responsibilities include: Undertake new patient health checks Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, height, weight and BMI, recording findings accurately Carry out annual HCA YOC PT 1 diabetic checks in line with guidance Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required Act as a chaperone as required When trained, undertake venepuncture When trained, administer flu, B12, pneumonia Injections and shingles vaccinations When trained, carry out ear irrigation under the supervision of the practice nurse Carry out ECGs as requested Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation Provide support during minor operations as required Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate Maintain Surgical equipment Monitor vaccine/cold chain storage Manage smoking cessation advice for patients (level 2) Re-stock surgical equipment and complete vaccine stock rotation Clear and re-stock consulting rooms Anti-coagulation monitoring and INR point of care testing 24 hour ECG monitoring Under take NHS health checks Complete home visits as required for patients requiring any of the above. Please see full job description attached. About the Candidate If you are a qualified and experienced healthcare assistant looking for a fresh and exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and qualifications: Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC; Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent; Ideally a qualification in phlebotomy/venepuncture; Strong clinical skills; Confidence and competence in all HCA duties required for the post; Experience within primary care or another healthcare setting; Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills; Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues; Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team; Strong organisational and time management skills.
