The Role
We are looking for a qualified Veterinary Nurse to join our growing, but well established, practice. We are looking for someone who is happy to be involved in all aspects of nursing - from consults to theatre to medical nursing - as well as doing shifts at our other two smaller branches in Hazlemere and Watlington.
We have a wonderful team and very much encourage our nurses to take responsibility for areas they are interested in, working closely with the whole team to improve our patient care and services offered to our clients. We love to learn from others, with plenty of support for those interested in further learning. We also love to train students, so previous experience as a clinical coach, or a willingness to become one, would be advantageous.
Our flexible approach to rota patterns can truly enrich your work life balance. We know that everyone has demands and priorities outside of their career and we want to make it easy for you to strike the right balance. Whether you need to do the school pick up, need reduced hours during school holidays or would simply like a more flexible rota pattern we can fix or flex our patterns to suit you.
We currently offer a 1 in 8 Saturday morning rota.
We have the added bonus of Vets Now being onsite, so there are no out of hours, and we do not have to transfer our patients to another practice for overnight or weekend care.
We also have accommodation available if it is required
Salary
The salary for this role is up to £30,000 (FTE) depending on experience.
About Us
We are a busy practice based in High Wycombe, a large town with great transport links to London and the rest of the country via train. Hazlemere, the larger of our two branches, is very close to High Wycombe, easily accessible by car or bus; Watlington, our smallest surgery, is a little further away located in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside but is easily reached by car.
At our main branch we have excellent facilities with x-ray, dental x-ray, endoscopy, ultrasound, and a well-equipped laboratory. We have separate cat, dog, and exotic kennels, as well as separate isolation kennels. We also have a fenced in garden for patient exercise.
Our branches are smaller, but also busy with a strong client base, and a more family feel. Both have operating facilities and kennels, as well as a laboratory.
All three branches are well equipped with anaesthesia monitoring equipment.
As a Vets Now host practice, we not only don't have to do any out of hours or send patients elsewhere for out of hours care, but we also have use of their equipment during the day. We work closely with them and have a great relationship with their team. They have also done training sessions with us, and there is the option to do shifts with them on weekends and bank holidays if desired.
About the Team and Culture
We have 10 Veterinary surgeons, 11 Veterinary Nurses (including students) and 3 Patient Care Assistants. We have two vets with small animal medicine certificates, and a vet working towards her small animal surgery certificate. We also have a nurse with a certificate in feline behaviour, a nurse working on her surgical nursing certificate and one of our care assistants is working on a canine behaviour training course.
We would love to expand our nursing team with someone that has a love for nursing! We are excited about training and improving practice standards and want to ensure we give the best care possible to our patients.
Applicant Requirements
We are looking for 2 Registered Veterinary Nurses, whether just recently qualified or someone with a lot of experience. We are happy to train and enable study to improve skills and experience, as well as to learn from you if you already come with a wealth of knowledge.
We are looking for someone that is happy working in both larger and smaller teams, who can be flexible and is keen to learn and develop with us as we grow our practice.
Experience with clinical coaching is desirable, but not essential.
