Job description
This is the third time we have been able to advertise to grow our own non medical prescribers and we see this as a key way of providing progression and development within our service. The Durham Drug and Alcohol Service provides substance misuse prescribing and relapse prevention prescribing across the whole of County Durham in partnership with Humankind. We want to develop a strong Nursing team that can grow within the field and enable development into band 6, band 7, team leaders and specialist leads. The initial role of the band 5 nurse will be to support vaccinating, testing, health and wellbeing screening and acting as an advocate to enable vulnerable service users to engage with long term condition screening and treatment that may well have been neglecting. Break down stigmatisation and stereotype perceptions of our vulnerable and marginalised group. encourage engagement with mental health services when appropriate and be aware of safeguarding issues for both vulnerable service users but also their families and children. The role is core to the Nursing standards and reinforces the 20+5 ethos making every contact count.
