A vacancy has arisen within ward 31 Planned Care for a 1st level trained nurse. You will be joining a well motivated and dynamic multi-disciplinary team who strive to deliver the highest level of care possible.
Ward 31 is a 23 bedded, dedicated ward for fracture Neck of Femur which is the only ward in Scotland. It is a busy forward thinking team in a very diverse directorate who work collectively as an orthopaedic department. Our patients are predominately a high number of frail and elderly where some have delirium or dementia. Many of these patients suffer from acute medical issues.
This post will include rotation between shifts which includes dayshift, night shift and twilights.
You will be based in Ward 31 but an opportunity will be given to work in our Trauma and Elective Orthopaedic Wards. In September 2022 NHS Fife will open a Fife Elective Orthopaedic Centre.
You should be enthusiastic, dynamic and self motivated with a real interest in orthopaedic nursing. We are looking for good team players with excellent written and oral communicators. Experience in acute nursing is desirable but not essential.
Previous orthopaedic experience would be advantageous, but training will be provided. Experience or an interest in delivering patient centred care to patients with dementia would also be an advantage. You should be able to work well under pressure and be able to cope with the constant demands of a busy ward environment. Extended clinical skills would be desirable. I.e., be proficient in Venepuncture, Cannulation, Male/Female catheterisation, ECG skills, Syringe Drivers and IV Antibiotics.
You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, can embrace change and deliver excellent patient centred care always. Clinical supervision will be available to successful candidates.
