Job description
Directorate: People Services
Hours: 30 hours a week consisting of early and late shifts over a seven-day rolling rota
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Bonsall View

Bonsall View is a 7-bed unit that provides Short Break care for adults with learning disabilities, some of whom have Autism, profound and multiple disabilities or may display behaviours of concern.
You will be responsible for providing intimate personal care to customers of the home and for contributing to the provision of a comfortable yet stimulating environment.
This is a demanding role which requires a high level of sensitivity in order to ensure our customers are supported to make choices and treated with dignity and respect.
The work will involve assisting and moving people for which you will receive training before you start work. You will also be required to attend other mandatory training courses as part of your induction programme and any future training as part of the role.
There is an expectation that on occasion you will be asked to work within other DCC homes and services.
You must have:
- Experience of working with vulnerable people and being able to undertake personal care.
- Good communication skills both oral and written.
- Knowledge of care planning and person-centred working.
- Knowledge of dignity in care.
- The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- The ability to work early mornings / evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- The ability to produce accurate daylily Log recordings and complete monitoring charts
A relevant NVQ/QCF qualification at level 2 or above in Health & Social Care is desirable.
Hours of work will vary but you will be expected to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and Bank holidays on a rota basis. The rota covers a rolling period; however, this is subject to change to meet the needs of the service.
Due to the nature of the post and to meet Care Quality Commission standards you will need to be at least 18 years of age.
If you would like to know more details about this post, then please contact Michelle Payne, Unit Manager on 07900664126 or Paul Halford, Assistant Manager on 07887854945 for an informal chat.
As part of our safer recruitment checks the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
All employees will normally be appointed to the minimum of the grade for the job. For reasons connected with a particular need of the Council it may be appropriate, subject to approval, to appoint to a higher point in the pay grade.
Please be aware that where there are staff within the organisation who are 'at risk' of redundancy, requirements to redeploy to another suitable role will apply and take priority.
