Good keyboard and computer skills Excellent communication skills Demonstration of active listening skills and empathy TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT The Nursing Associate will receive an induction programme as a basic introduction to general practice at the beginning of their employment The Nursing Associate will be supervised, and given guidance by members of the relevant nursing, medical, manager and administrative staff The Nursing Associate will attend training courses relevant to their needs and duties expected of them. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES To assist in the care of practice patients to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education To provide health promotion and lifestyle advice to patients and to be familiar with services provided by relevant local and community organisations To assist with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being To undertake specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual. For example: BP Monitoring ECG Recording Urinalysis Weight Monitoring Temperature and Pulse recording Chaperoning duties Prepare and assist in clinical sessions as directed by clinicians (eg Minor surgery; Coil & Implant clinics) Vaccine/cold chain storage monitoring and recording Vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation Comply with practice guidelines for Infection Control EQUALITY & DIVERSITY The post-holder will support the equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues, to include: Acting in a way that recognizes the importance of peoples rights, interpreting them in a way that is consistent with Practice procedures and policies, and current legislation Respecting the privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of patients, carers and colleagues Behaving in a manner which is welcoming to and of the individual, is non-judgmental and respects their circumstances, feelings priorities and rights.
