Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will deliver high quality holistic care to patients within our Outpatients department.
Previous experience in Outpatients is not essential as there will be opportunities for the successful candidate to gain experience to fully support the Outpatient team. Training will be provided.
They will facilitate efficient and effective care and communication between the patient and their care provider.
Carry out various forms of direct and indirect patient care without direct supervision - supporting patients at Outpatient appointments.
Regularly take charge of the clinical area in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility or his / her deputy.
Utilises and integrates evidence into their practice.
You will work closely with all members of the teams, across many specialties within the Outpatient department.

We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, confident; self-motivated and possess good communication skills, enjoys a challenge and can work as part of a team.

You will regularly take charge of the area in the absence of the deputy sister, ensuring that we deliver high quality and safe care to out patients.

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current level one NMC registration with PIN number
Desirable criteria
- Diploma or degree in health / nursing related studies.
- Evidence of continuing professional development / reflective profile
- Possession of a Mentoring Course
- Competent in medicines management
- Have or willing to undertake a suitable teaching & assessing qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Recent experience of working within an acute hospital setting
- Experience of delivering nursing care to a group of patients
- Experience of leading a team and supervision of non-registered staff and students
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in Outpatients.
- Demonstrate an involvement in link nurse or project work
- Audit or research within the clinical area
Communication and relationship skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate basic IT skills
- Recognition of own level of competence and limitations and able to communicate these to appropriate staff
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate Computer literacy & use of IT skills e.g. email, Excel, PowerPoint and word
- Demonstration of team working and ability to work within a team
Analytical and Judgement skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, deliver, prioritise and evaluate patient care.
- Ability to identify own learning needs
- Demonstrate an understanding of the staff nurse role in an Outpatient setting.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
