Southern Operation & Maintenance Manager

Location: Flexibly based in our head office at Osprey House, Huntingdon, at home, and with regular travel around the c. southern half of the UK region to customer sites.

To help us achieve continued commercial success and further enhance our strong reputation, we are looking for a proactive and motivated Southern O&M Manager to lead our O&M and value adding work in the Southern half of the UK. With people leadership, customer service, and a growth mindset at the heart of your thinking, we are looking for an experienced leader with a growth and continuous improvement mindset, and great commercial acumen skills.

What will you be doing?

This senior management position will provide leadership and take responsibility for the Operational teams and contracts under your control, in order to deliver their safe, compliant, and profitable delivery for our customers.

Reporting to the Head of UK Operations you will have full leadership and contract management responsibilities for the Southern area operations and maintenance contracts. Via your team of experienced operators and managers you will be responsible for monitoring and delivering high standards of H&S, performance, quality and compliance on our customer’s sites, along with building great customer relationships via excellent service and contract management.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Overall responsibility for the successful delivery of our Southern operations and maintenance contracts. Ensuring safe, effective, efficient, and profitable contracts are delivered and renewed
  • Responsible for delivering proactive contract management to ensure our clients’ needs are satisfied. Ownership of customer relationships via regular client interface, reporting and ongoing relationship building. Acting on client requests to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver the commercial and financial requirements of the contracts by understanding and communicating their detailed financial analysis and managing the commercial risk
  • Responsibility for H&S implementation and management across all sites and process safety management on applicable contracts
  • Line management responsibilities of the site operatives to ensure that Alpheus’ high standards are consistently achieved and delivered. Developing and enhancing the team’s skills and capabilities.
  • Line management of the Service Delivery Manager, who is responsible for delivering high quality services to our field sites via our team of Field Engineers.
  • Identify and lead on continuous improvement strategies, ensuring that the safe operation, optimisation and sustainability of client’s sites are the top priorities.
  • Own the compliance responsibilities for all sites – lead on the principle that 100% compliant sites are achievable, drive proactive and energetic actions to ensure this, drive the compliance support to provide timely and quality assistance and ownership
  • Project manage and own the implementation of new contracts as they developed, having played a key role in their original award
What do you need?

We are looking for you to demonstrate your proven leadership and contract management skills and experience. Demonstrable experience managing operational contracts to the highest standard, with a clear focus and understanding of regulatory and contract compliance, with customer satisfaction as a top priority.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills via previously managing customer contracts, ideally within the water and wastewater industry. Understanding of market norms and expectations.

A clear understanding of financial and KPI contract management will be essential. Along with being able to demonstrate your experience and commitment to delivering high value contracts.

As the role involves management of site operators and delivery managers you will be able to demonstrate excellent leadership and people management skills. Demonstrating your ability to get the best out of your workforce via your proven skills, training, and experience.

You will be able to demonstrate a keen awareness and proven experience in managing and delivering high standards of operational Health & Safety, along with leading on successful continuous improvement techniques. Ideally IOSH or NEBOSH trained.

Have a full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across England for regular customer interface, site and staff management and evaluations.
