There is an exciting opportunity for an established experienced paediatric intensive care nurse to join our dynamic and innovative team who jointly share a vision and culture to deliver exceptional care to critically ill children and their families.
The PICU is an established 16 bedded unit within the new Evelina Cardio-Respiratory and Intensive Care directorate based at The Royal Brompton Hospital site.
To lead the development of the nursing team we are looking for an enthusiastic nursing team leader who is a clinical expert in paediatric critical care. The post holder will be integral to the ongoing recruitment and training of the PICU nursing team, supported by the Critical Care Nursing leadership team of Matron and Lead Nurse.
This post is for a band 7 nursing position within the PICU at The Royal Brompton site. The post holder will be expected to lead the nursing team both clinically and managerially while we become part of the Cardio-Respiratory and Intensive Care Clinical Group at The Evelina London Children's Hospital.
The successful candidate will be supported by the PICU senior nursing leadership team. The critical care nursing team are a dynamic and innovative team who share a vision and culture to deliver exceptional care, lead and innovate, and empower and educate all nursing team members.
They are integral in coordinating and delivering excellent care to critically unwell children and supporting their families and carers. Being a clinical expert is essential in the area of paedaitric critical care, and carrying the vision and values of the critical care team into this area. Experience of managing a team would be preferable and excellent organisational and leadership skills are essential.
From 1st April 2022, Children's services at The Royal Brompton Hospital site became part of the Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care Directorate at Evelina London, which is part ofGuy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. With over 3,000 dedicated staff, and led by an Executive Team and Board, we have significant devolved autonomy to focus operationally and strategically upon the needs of our patients. Our Paediatric Critical Care Unit consists of a 16 bedded unit and a 10 bedded Paediatric High Dependency Unit that delivers highly specialized cardio-respiratory tertiary care .
PHDU is an area and team who will work with the same leadership and ethos of the PICU, where exceptional care is delivered to critically unwell children and their families.

Clinical Duties
- Lead the ward/Department team and build successful links between key professionals to support and promote effective multi-disciplinary team working.
- Manage the department nursing staff, ensuring the patients receive high quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines
- Be wholly accountable for his / her practice in line with the NMC code of professional conduct and takes every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve his / her knowledge and professional competence.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently and liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that patients receive seamless care within the trust.
